Welcome to Radionix — a family-run company making radios the old-fashioned way: one at a time, with care, craft, and a bit of that front-porch spirit.

For as long as we can remember, we’ve wanted to take our music with us — to the lake, the backyard, the tailgate, the campsite. That’s what made the transistor radio such a wonder. Before that, if you wanted tunes at your picnic, you had to haul out one of those clunky portable turntables — the kind with a built-in speaker, a cord, and a prayer that the batteries (if it even had any) would last through Side A.

But when the transistor came along? Everything changed.

Suddenly, we could catch the ballgame while fishing at the creek. We could hear Patsy Cline while watching the clouds roll by. As long as we had reception, we had music. And we had freedom.

Still, most radios back then were made fast and cheap — not exactly built to last. That’s why we started Radionix. We wanted to capture the freedom of those early portable radios, but with a little more staying power — better parts, better sound, and a whole lot more heart.

Welcome. We’re glad you’re here.

Our First Radio

We don’t have many photos of the original Radionix Model 1 — mostly because we were too busy building the darn thing to stop and take pictures. But we remember it like it was yesterday.

It had a smooth walnut veneer (we applied it ourselves, with glue that stuck to everything but the casing), and a tuning dial that gave just enough resistance to feel like you were doing something important. It only picked up AM, but that was fine — that’s where the good stuff was anyway.

The speaker wasn’t fancy, but it was solid. You could hear the preacher clear as day on Sunday morning, and the local farm report before the sun came up. If you tilted it just right near the back door, you could even catch the high school game two counties over.

We only made 43 of that first batch. Gave away about a third to family and friends. Sold the rest off a card table at the fall festival, right next to the funnel cakes. That was the beginning. And somehow, we never stopped.

The Radionix Promise

Now, we don’t have a big marketing department, and we’re not much for buzzwords. But here’s what we can promise:

If it’s got the Radionix name on it, it’s something we’d be proud to hand to a neighbor. It’s something that got tested, then re-tested, then probably knocked off the workbench and tested again.

We don’t chase trends, and we don’t cut corners. What we do is build radios — the kind that feel good in your hand and sound even better on the porch.

We’re not trying to change the world. Just trying to make something that lasts a little longer, plays a little truer, and reminds you that simpler can still be better.

That’s the Radionix way. Always has been.
